First meeting of partners from the newWERD project
“New WERD – New Way of Educational Research and Development” is a project in the program Erasmus+ coordinated by SOU Gimnazija Koco Racin from Veles. According to the projected activities for realization of the project in the period from 3 to 6 November 2017, the first transnational meeting was held in Gardenia Hotel & Spa.
The project is a strategic partnership for the exchange of good practices between the four schools: Liceul Teoretic „Tudor Arghez“, school from Craiova – Romania, I.I.S.S. ERASMO DA ROTTERDAM from Torino – Italy, AGRUPAMENTO DE ESCOLAS DE BARCELOS- Portugal and High School “Gimnazija Koco Racin” from Veles – Macedonia as an applicant organization.
At this meeting, all schools presented their experiences and the implementation of the STEM method in their schools. After the international competition for designing the logo of the project and a public survey, the student whose logo was selected for the best design was anaunced at the meeting, the student Dino Janakiev from 3-5 from the high school “Gymnasium Koco Racin” from Veles.
The project will be implemented in a period of two years, starting on September 1, 2017, and the main goal is for students to develop the so-called. “STEM skills” (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
According to the projected activities planned by the project, four five-day training events will be realized in all partnership schools in order to strengthen the profile of the teacher profession and to adopt new methods and tools from the STEM methodology, as well as to train the students to be creative, motivated and to apply science, mathematics and technology in solving real problems in teaching.
Besides the planned activities at the meeting, the participants had the opportunity to visit our city Veles, as well as the capital of Macedonia -Skopje, and to experience the culture and tradition of our country.
